Melodies of Resistance: Can Music Change the World?
At Rock for People, we’re hosting a discussion on the power of music and cultural events as tools for social change. At a time when environmental and social issues are becoming more urgent than ever, we’re not asking what artists and organizers must do, but what they can do. Where does culture’s true potential to influence our future lie, and how can we translate environmental values from song lyrics into real action? For example, right on the grounds of one of the biggest festivals in the country?
The following speakers will discuss the search for intersections between artistic creation, ecological consciousness, and practical sustainable management:
- Athena Chlebová – a rapper whose work naturally blends techno-rap energy with her background in ecology.
- Radka Hájková – CSR and ESG project manager for the Rock for People festival, responsible for the practical aspects of festival sustainability.
The discussion will be moderated by music journalist Aneta Jetmar Martinková (co-founder of the Sirény podcast), who has long focused on social issues and inequalities in culture.
Join us for a discussion on where mere entertainment ends and inspiration for action begins—both on stage and off. Does Czech music have the power to move the world, or does it remain merely a backdrop for dancing?
Admission to the discussion is only permitted with a valid festival ticket.
