Zkompostuj mě
A Belgian activist group is pushing for the legalization of human body composting as an eco-friendly alternative to burial. This method is not yet legal in Belgium or any other European Union country.
The idea of composting human bodies emphasizes its spiritual and psychological dimensions. Composting allows death to be perceived as part of the natural cycle of life. It brings comfort to the bereaved that their deceased loved ones continue to be present in their lives, for example in the form of a tree that grows from the compost.
This sensitively filmed documentary follows activists who are conducting experiments with pig bodies, seeking inspiration in other countries, and addressing ethical issues, legislative limits, and practical challenges associated with new technologies.
